Uvero Alto is about 42 km from Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ), 45 to 60 minutes by car. It is the northernmost resort strip on the Punta Cana coast, past Arena Gorda and Macao, and each hotel sits on its own stretch of beach.
The airport transfer matters more here than in Bávaro: it is nearly twice as long, and once you are at the hotel there are few cheap ways out. Plan it before you land.

Which airport to fly into
Fly into Punta Cana (PUJ). From the airport you head north through Bávaro and then along the Macao road to Uvero Alto: about 42 km and 45 to 60 minutes, more if Bávaro traffic is heavy when hotel shifts change in the late afternoon.
Because the drive is long, the price goes up. A January 2026 guide quoted around US$70 for the official PUJ taxi to Uvero Alto and around US$30 for UberX when drivers are available at the airport. A pre-booked private transfer usually falls between the two; compare on the route page. Santo Domingo (SDQ) means 3 hours or more on the road, so it only pays off if you are passing through the capital anyway.

Areas and transfer times
Uvero Alto's resorts are spread over about 10 km of coast. Those at the southern end, nearer Macao, are about 40 to 45 minutes from PUJ; those at the northern end, toward the lagoon and the road to Miches, can be over an hour. Macao, between Arena Gorda and Uvero Alto, has a public beach with restaurants and is about 35 to 45 minutes from the airport.
If you want to get to Bávaro often, pick a hotel at the southern end; if you want seclusion, the northern ones deliver it, at the cost of a longer transfer.

Uvero Alto is a resort area without a town: there are no walkable plazas and no guagua stops useful to visitors. UberX is rarely available here according to 2026 guides, except right after a driver drops someone off; Uber Select (taxis in the app) and the hotel taxi are the real options, at fixed fares.
For dinner or shopping in Bávaro (about 20 to 30 minutes), the practical move is a hotel taxi at a fixed round-trip price, or the shuttle some resorts run to shopping plazas. If you plan to go out several times, a rental car for a couple of days can work out cheaper than taxis. Beach walks are for strolling, not for reaching anything with services.
