Private carUS$30 to US$45

La Romana International Airport (LRM) is about 8 km from Casa de Campo, and the drive takes 5 to 15 minutes depending on where in the resort you're staying. A taxi costs around US$20 to US$30 in 2026 and a pre-booked private transfer around US$30 to US$45. The resort itself quotes about 10 minutes from LRM, against roughly 50 minutes from Punta Cana (PUJ) or Santo Domingo (SDQ).

LRM is a small terminal run by Central Romana, right next to the Casa de Campo grounds. It gets American Airlines flights from Miami and, mostly in the winter high season, seasonal and charter flights from Montreal (Air Canada, Air Transat, WestJet), Germany (Condor, Discover), Italy (Neos), the UK (TUI) and Paris (Air Caraïbes). Routes and frequencies change every season, so check with your airline.

Casa de Campo is huge: the hotel rooms, private villas, the Marina and Altos de Chavón are spread over several kilometres. Your real transfer time depends on where you're going inside the resort, not on the short run to the gate.

Approximate 2026 prices, per vehicle and one way unless stated. The taxi range is what the tourist taxis waiting outside the terminal usually ask; confirm it before you get in, because they don't run meters. If you book your stay directly with Casa de Campo, the resort offers to add a transfer to your reservation at its own rate. A round trip is usually double; some drivers add a surcharge after midnight, although LRM has very few arrivals that late.

Tolls

None. The drive uses local roads between the airport and the resort gate.

The drive

You leave the terminal on the airport access road and reach the main Casa de Campo gate within a few minutes, where there's a security check. From there the main hotel is close; the Marina and the villas near Altos de Chavón can add 5 to 10 minutes inside the resort.

There's no real traffic on this run. The slowest part is usually getting out of the airport: immigration and customs at LRM are quick when a single flight lands, but if two charters arrive together in high season you can wait longer. Inside the resort people get around by golf cart, so your driver will drop you at reception or at your villa.

Which option suits you

If you're staying at Casa de Campo, the simplest option is the transfer the resort offers when you book, because the driver clears the gate easily and knows every villa. A private transfer booked with an outside company costs about the same and works well too; check that the driver is cleared to enter.

The tourist taxi at the airport rank is fine for such a short ride: agree the price before you get in and ask to be taken to reception. There's no regular shared service on this route, since almost everyone is going to the same resort.

Uber and inDrive have no official pickup zone at LRM and driver availability in La Romana is patchy, so don't count on them when you land. A rental car only makes sense if you plan to explore the region, because inside the resort you'll use a golf cart.

Tips

  • If you book directly with Casa de Campo, add the transfer to your reservation: the resort offers it and you skip negotiating at the rank.
  • Give your villa name or sector, not just "Casa de Campo": distances inside the resort are long.
  • Carry some cash in dollars or pesos to tip the driver and the staff who handle your bags.
  • Flights into LRM change a lot from season to season; if there's no direct flight, PUJ and SDQ are about 50 minutes away by road.
