Distance10 km
Drive time10 to 20 min
Private carUS$25 to US$40

Boca Chica is about 10 km from Las Américas Airport, 10 to 20 minutes east on the Autopista Las Américas, with no toll. The official taxi costs around US$25 in 2026, a private transfer US$25 to US$40 per car, and an Uber, when a driver accepts, about US$8 to US$14.

It is the shortest transfer out of SDQ, which changes the logic: here getting out of the airport fast matters more than price. Boca Chica has a calm, reef-sheltered bay, all-inclusive hotels on the sand and small hotels in town, and many travelers use it for a first or last night before an early flight.

Tolls

None. Boca Chica is east of the airport and the Las Américas toll is on the city side.

The drive

Leaving the airport you turn east on the Autopista Las Américas. You pass La Caleta and the Andrés overpass, and a few minutes later take the exit into town. The Hampton by Hilton and other stopover hotels sit on the highway itself, at kilometer 27, under 5 minutes from the terminal.

Capital traffic barely touches this stretch because you are driving away from the city. What can slow you is Boca Chica's main street (Avenida Duarte and around) on weekends and holidays, when families from Santo Domingo come to the beach; on Sunday afternoons getting out of town can crawl. On weekdays the drive rarely exceeds 15 minutes.

Which option suits you

For this route the official taxi is the most direct: walk out of arrivals, pay a fixed fare of around US$25 and you are at your hotel in 15 minutes. For the highway hotels right by the airport, Sichala's fare drops to US$10 to US$15.

Uber is cheaper, but on such a short ride some drivers decline or ask you to cancel and pay cash; if that happens, request again or take the taxi. A pre-booked private transfer is worth it if you land at night, travel with kids or as a group, or if your hotel includes the transfer in your package (ask before paying for one separately).

Shared shuttles make no sense here: a private car already costs nearly the same as a seat. Renting a car just for Boca Chica isn't worth it either; the town is walkable and Uber works for trips into the capital.

Tips

  • If you have a flight before 8:00 am, sleeping in Boca Chica puts you 15 minutes from the terminal.
  • Ask your all-inclusive whether the SDQ transfer is already part of your booking.
  • On Sunday afternoons, leave town with time to spare: return traffic to the capital builds early.
  • If an Uber driver asks you to cancel and pay cash, decline; request another driver or use the official taxi.
