Cabeza de Toro is about 14 km from Punta Cana Airport, 15 to 25 minutes by car. The official taxi charges around US$30 to US$35 per vehicle in 2026, and a private transfer runs about US$25 to US$40. It is closer than central Bávaro, but the taxi fare is practically the same.

It is a small cove south of Bávaro with half a dozen all-inclusive resorts (Catalonia, Serenade, Dreams Flora, Sunscape Coco, Bakour) and a calmer feel than Playa Bávaro. Many guests choose it for being close to the airport without the sprawl of Cap Cana.

The drive

The route leaves the airport heading north and, before reaching Friusa's commercial core, turns toward the coast on the Cabeza de Toro access road. That skips the worst of Bávaro's traffic, though the junctions near the airport can add a few minutes in the afternoon rush.

The last kilometers run through residential and villa areas before reaching the resorts, which are clustered along the same cove. Because the hotels sit close together, shared shuttles often drop several Cabeza de Toro guests in a row, which makes the stops less of a drag than in Bávaro.

Which option suits you

For two people, the official taxi (about US$30) or a pre-booked private car (US$25 to US$40) cost almost the same; book if you land at night or want someone waiting with a sign. The shared shuttle (from about US$8 to US$15 per person) only makes sense solo, if you don't mind waiting for it to depart from the airport.

Uber usually costs less than the taxi over this short distance, airport surcharge included, and is a good choice if you land during the day and have data or airport wifi. From Cabeza de Toro, Uber also works for dinner in Bávaro or the Los Corales shopping area. You don't need a rental car.
